Biography
Few have actually come close to seeing Mesalx and living to tell the tale. The ever dark and elusive, it's really hard to say who is worse to anger: Mesalx or Julie. Make him your friend, and Mesalx will surely stand by you to the end. Make him your enemy....and you'll be one more headstone in the graveyard.
Origins
Mesalx, born Mesalkono Menos, was the fourth of five children born to the Menos family. Fortunately for him, he was born into royalty and was given the title of Crown Prince since he was the only child to make it past his first year. Shortly after his birth, Mesalx' mother developed a rare blood disorder that later killed her when Mesalx was still an infant. Shuffled from nanny to nanny, Mesalx grew up without little to no female interaction. It was no surprise to any that he grew to be quite violent and irritable towards women.
As much as he would've liked to, Mesalx' father had no time to spend with his son. While he was working with his advisors, Mesalx would be forced to sit quietly and not to bother his father, no matter how much he desired attention. As he grew up, so did his hatred for women grow. Mesalx, having vampiric traits such as a strong bloodthirst, was known to strike at a woman should they so much as look at him or if they did not move out of the way fast enough when he walked past.
One night, after Mesalx had gotten over an illness, the bloodthirst was upon him, and while he didn't know exactly what he had done, Mesalx lunged at the very first woman he saw and brutally raped and murdered her as he drained her of her blood. Jaqsalx, seeing what his son had done, refused to chastise him for his behavior, his only remark about his son's actions was the murmured word 'Extraordinary'. For the first time, Jaqsalx began to take Mesalx aside to the torture chambers and commenced to show him the ways and fighting styles of his people. Mesalx was only 1300 years old.
Many years later, when Mesalx was 1800, he was introduced to Julie Dashara, Amidista Dashara's daughter, who was still a babe at the time. He took one look at her, and was instantly mesmerized at the resemblance between him and Julie. From then on, he developed a strange kind of infatuation with her, always talking about her and was even found sneaking to Julie's residence in the Human World just to see her once more.
Once his father was killed, Mesalx showed no emotion whatsoever. He was crowned the King of the Salx when he was only 2500 years old. But still, he was affixed on his Julie Dashara, and while she was still a child, he was already making plans to make her his queen. It wasn't until the first of 3 paradoxes for the Arithanids occured that he realized that she was his half sister. Little is known if this is true, but it did nothing to deter Mesalx from claiming her.
When Amidista was killed and Julie locked away in her foster father's wine cellar, Mesalx took that time to be with his sister, comforting her from the shadows and often times taking her out of the cellar just to view the outside world. He showed an uncharacteristically sort of love towards Julie, possibly because she was the only woman that did not look at him just because of his serene beauty.
His unfaltering love for Julie continued as he tried to win her over, but each time, Julie would chastise him gently, always replying that it would be simply 'too improper and indecent to be in love with my brother, even if he is not related by blood to me.'. Mesalx would do nothing when she did this; he would only lower his head before looking her in the eyes and smiling at her, something that he rarely did. Eventually, Julie did admit to him that she was beggining to fall in love with him, but shortly after that, she disappeared into the safety of her hidden glade.
This was almost like a smack in the face to Mesalx, but he refused to back down from her. It made him all the more interested in her, and he writes in his journal that 'That tantalizing creature by the name of Julie has captivated my mind, soul, body, and heart. The very breath from her lips causes the most strongest of stirrings in my loins.'.
When Julie returned from the Eternal Prison, he was the first person that she went to for shelter. He gladly offered both shelter and comfort to her, but this soon grew to be much more than just comfort when Mesalx drank her blood every chance he got, thus marking her as his own. But Julie still refused to become his queen, even though Mesalx considers her to be so.
Personality
Mesalx, like Julie, has a lone wolf persona. He loves to be alone and anytime that he isn't, Julie is always with him. Mesalx is cold, vain, violent, cynical and sometimes quiet abusive when angered, though he refuses to harm his beloved sister. He is known to make sexual advances on young girls that remind him of Julie, using the promise of a 'Kiss of Immortality' and sex appeal to get what he wants.
Mesalx is cunning and very manipulative, and has been known to torture people relentlessly if they can't or won't give him answers when he wants them.
Abilities
Mesalx, like his sister, has superhuman strength, speed, and agility, but he also has vampiric powers such as telekinesis, rapid healing, shapeshifting, and can even use someones shadow to control their mind. Other abilities are:

Mesalx, while being stronger than any of his clan, is not strong enough to fend off only two weaknesses:

Did You Know...
-Mesalx is based off of two of the author's friends, Joshua Couch and Isaiah Rice.
-His appearance was inspired by Sesshomaru from Inyuyasha and his personality by Alucard from Castlevania
-In Candle in the Night, Mesalx was introduced as being Julie's lost lover instead of her brother. He is still paired with Julie, but as an ally instead of a lover.
